At InfoComm Asia, Crestron showcased its newest product, the AirMedia Connect Adaptor, which enables seamless wireless presentations and conferencing. “Crestron has always been strong in wireless presentations, but what we did not have until now is an adaptor that connects to the device to streamline the user experience. So, the Connect Adaptor, which was launched recently, is a new addition to our AirMedia solution,” said a pleased Jacques Bertrand, executive vice president of Crestron Asia.
The Airmedia Connect Adaptor is very straightforward and easy to install, with no drivers or software to download. There are other solutions in the market where downloading drivers are required upon inserting them into a USB-C port. This is not the case with Crestron’s Connect Adaptor, which is automatically detected by the computer as a display, and presentations can start right away. Within seconds of connecting it to their device, users are able to share content of up to 4K30 resolution.
Then there is the Canvas Mode which enables content sharing with simultaneous windows for multi-user collaboration. Also, no guest network connection is required, which will please companies that typically discourage guest network connections.
“This solution is going to be strong in Asia as businesses here prefer simplicity. Streamlining the collaboration experience among various types of teams, without the distraction of worrying about how the technology works, has taken new levels of importance. When you walk into a meeting room, time is of the essence, and you just want to get the meeting started and discuss the issues at hand.
The big thing for me here is that if you walk into a meeting room and start thinking about how to work the technology to conduct a session, we have failed. Everything has to be ready to start in 10 seconds, and our AirMedia solution is designed to achieve this. So yes, Asia is going to be a huge market for us, and we already have more than a thousand units shipped in this region,” said Jacques.
On opportunities in the Asia market, Jacques says, “For a lot of AV companies, excluding Australia and New Zealand, Asia is like 10% of their global turnover. But Asia has an estimated 60% of the world’s population and 40% of the world’s GDP. So, the market is one that’s full of opportunities, and the future is really big and bright for us here. With IT and AV converging into one, solutions are becoming more simplified, well integrated and easy to maintain. This is what businesses in Asia are fundamentally demanding, particularly with the rise of remote and hybrid working environments.”
