Pune, a hub of rich culture and heritage, has had everything that an Indian metropolis boasts. High-end entertainment, reputed institutions of higher and professional education, a famed film institute, and a rapidly growing IT and automobile industry- all have characterized the city’s topography. Along with them, there is one Zapurza Museum – a creation of an inspired vision of Ajit Gadgil, a name synonymous with jewelry entrepreneurship in the country.
The iconic Zapurza Museum of Art & Culture, recently refurbished its auditorium with state of the art audio integration. Pune-based AV systems integration firm Pratyam Technologies, acoustic consultant Vijay Purandhare collaborated with Q-SYS to weave in the audio integration and enliven the artistic experience.

The Zapurza Museum of Art & Culture aims at conserving and promoting Indian art, to be a learning resource for all ages, and to provide local artists with access to its unique facilities. The museum houses 10 galleries/display spaces, along with workshop/activity areas and a 200-seat capacity auditorium created with an objective of providing a modern environment conducive to providing visitors with an exceptional learning and entertainment experience.
The Museum management partnered with locally-based Pratyam Technologies Pvt Ltd to bring the auditorium space to life. The integrator promptly chose Q-SYS audio solution to enliven the audio ambience at the venue.
Explains Pankaj Patil, Director of Pratyam, why they chose Q-SYS: “We were seeking a distributed speaker system, DSP, and a mixer. The challenge was to find all these components as part of a single, unified system.”
According to him speakers and performers often employ third-party mixers, making it difficult to provide a natural and authentic sound experience to guests. Q-SYS portfolio of devices and software, on the other hand, are all driven by the Q-SYS OS.
“We chose Q-SYS due to its superior sound quality, advanced programming and routing capabilities, and effective feedback suppression, which enabled us to achieve natural audio throughout the auditorium. It’s just superb,” he explained.
Q-SYS provided a complete, optimal audio solution, from architect design to acoustic design, meeting all expectations. With the simple integration of third-party software and hardware via Q-SYS Partners, Pratyam was able to ensure that many systems had seamless connectivity.
“Q-SYS enabled the team to craft a system that simplifies the user experience. Not only is it easy to use, but it also allows microphones of various types, such as handheld and dynamic drum microphones, to be connected quickly and with no issues,” Pankaj further noted. “With Q-SYS, the system is plug-and-play, therefore accessible to the end user.”
The implementation of Q-SYS supports the core mission of the Zapurza Museum of Art & Culture, allowing patrons to appreciate and celebrate the fantastic culture and heritage of the region. The ability to offer patrons the best technology is an invaluable asset for the museum, ensuring visitors are immersed in a unique audio-visual experience, taking the museum experience to a new level.
“Zapurza is truly a unique project, that is a testament to Shri Ajit Gadgil’s passion for promoting and conserving Indian arts and forms,” Vijay Purandare, the project’s consultant hailed. “As an auditorium consultant, it was a great honour to work for such a unique project.”
According to him, the acoustic design was carefully crafted to ensure optimal absorption and reflection for all types of performances. After conducting a thorough techno commercial assessment of audio equipment, they concluded that the Q-SYS brand, particularly the KLA12 powered line array speakers with their reliable DSP, mixer, and microphones, are performing well up to the mark.
Endorses Pankaj on the system architecture. “From a technical standpoint, you can walk the microphone to any Q-SYS speaker and receive zero issues. Furthermore, feedback from artists about the audio reproduction is highly positive!”
