Rangsit University’s prestigious Suryadhep Music Sala has taken a significant step in enhancing its world-class performance experience by investing in a new Adamson sound system. And tasked with this ambitious upgrade – professional AV solutions provider Sonos Libra was selected to transform the audio landscape of the 1,100-seat venue, ensuring it stands among the finest acoustic environments in the country.
Completed in 2015, the Suryadhep Music Sala is renowned for its superb architectural design and top-tier facilities, including a spacious stage, an orchestra pit that accommodates up to 100 musicians, and adjustable acoustical walls. The addition of Adamson’s advanced sound system is set to elevate the venue’s status as a premier destination for live music performances, delivering an unparalleled auditory experience.
Central to the upgrade is Adamson’s acclaimed IS series of loudspeakers, which comprise the main PA system. Team Sonos Libra chose to suspend 9 units of the nimble yet powerful IS7 2-way, full range line array modules complemented perfectly by 4 units of the supremely compact yet impressively thunderous IS118 subwoofers, on each side of the stage. To enhance the sonic coverage desired from the main PA system, the design and integration team have also flown two units of IS10p speakers as a centre cluster above the stage. And to further support the low-end punch with truly solid, resonant and impactful low-frequency fidelity, additional units of sophisticated IS219 subwoofers have been discreetly installed under the stage.
Throwing light on the reasons behind selecting the Adamson IS series for the project, a member of the design and integration team notes the technical capabilities of the IS series products as key factors that positively impressed the decision.
They informed, “The IS7 is known for its proven precision and clarity; as the innovative loudspeaker design combined with Adamson’s proprietary Controlled Summation Technology eliminates low-mid frequency lobing; thereby ensuring a clean and coherent sound across the listening area, always. Plus, its advanced cone architecture provides increased efficiency, allowing the speakers to deliver consistent high-frequency performance even in large spaces. On the other hand, the IS118 subwoofers, featuring 18” ND18-S Kevlar Neodymium drivers, complement the IS7 perfectly as they offer deep, clean low frequencies, adding depth and warmth to orchestral and amplified performances alike. The IS10p, with its prolate spheroidal waveguide, ensures a smooth and even tonal balance across its coverage area, and guarantees a natural, non-diffused sound, which is critical in a venue renowned for its acoustical clarity. And finally, the IS219, thanks to Adamson’s Advanced Cone Architecture; delivers powerful, controlled bass without sacrificing clarity.”
For detailed front-fill coverage, multiple compact PC5 loudspeakers have been installed at the edge of the stage. Despite their modest size, these speakers are celebrated for their warmth and clarity, providing linear, high-resolution audio that blends seamlessly with the rest of the sound system. They ensure that audiences sitting closest to the stage receive the same immersive experience as those seated further back.
Powering this sophisticated loudspeaker system is a suite of Lab.gruppen amplifiers, including the D200:4L, D120:4L, and D40:4L models that are known for their high efficiency and reliable performance – ensuring that the Adamson system delivers its full potential without compromise. This combination of advanced amplification and speaker technology creates a seamless audio experience that enhances every detail of a live performance.
Sonos Libra’s expertise in designing and implementing audio solutions has been instrumental in this transformation.
“We are committed to ensuring that every installation meets our customers’ needs, and delivering the highest sound quality is a principle we always adhere to,” remarked a representative from Sonos Libra. Their careful integration of Adamson’s IS-Series—specifically designed for permanent installations—demonstrates a keen understanding of how to balance cutting-edge technology with architectural aesthetics. The unobtrusive design of the loudspeakers allows them to blend seamlessly into the venue, preserving its visual appeal while delivering the highest standards of sound performance.
