Atlona has begun shipping the latest entry to its AT-OME-CS31 Series of AV presentation and collaboration systems, adding a third model that supports switching between USB-C and HDMI sources. The new AT-OME-CS31-SA-C is a 3×1 AV switcher featuring one USB-C input plus two HDMI inputs, joining the previously available AT-OME-CS31-SA (three HDMI inputs) and AT-OME-CS31-SA-HDBT (one HDBaseT input and two HDMI inputs) to support diverse connectivity scenarios in modern learning and meeting spaces. Sources connected to the switcher’s inputs, such as laptops, computers, media players, and document cameras, can be selected and routed to the HDMI output connected to a projector or display.
Like its siblings, the OME-CS31-SA-C consolidates AV switching, USB routing, audio mixing, amplification, and control into a low-profile enclosure sized for placement behind a display, in a lectern, or under a table. Its support for USB-C aligns with the popularity of this interface as the primary connection for modern laptops and mobile devices. The OME-CS31-SA-C’s USB-C input both streamlines connectivity and reduces cable clutter through support of video, audio, data, and device powering up to 60 watts over a single connection.
All OME-CS31 switchers add special capabilities for education applications that ensure important lesson materials and announcements are heard clearly. This includes audio ducking which lowers program audio levels when the instructor speaks into a microphone system connected to the balanced input. Additionally, the system can be muted by contact closure or automatically when a school public address announcement is detected. Powerful digital signal processing also allows mixing a variety of audio sources to the amplifier, line, and USB audio outputs as well as acoustic echo cancellation to automatically eliminate echo for remote USB audio.
The OME-CS31-SA-C integrates a USB 3.0 hub that supports switching between two hosts and four peripherals such as cameras, speakerphones, interactive displays or other devices. Automatic display control allows the OME-CS31-SA-C to turn a display on or off based on input activity or by room occupancy when used with an Atlona AT-OCS-900N occupancy sensor. If a physical user interface is desired for system operation, the OME-CS31-SA-C can be controlled by Atlona’s AT-VKP-8E keypad controller or a Velocity touch panel control system.
“Our OME-CS31 series combines essential capabilities to address the AV switching, USB routing, audio mixing, amplification, and control needs of modern classrooms and meeting spaces,” said Tommy Gay, Product Manager, Atlona. “The series is strengthened by the third model, the OME-CS31-SA-C, that includes USB-C connectivity allowing a single cable interface for video, audio, data, and device powering supported by many current laptops and mobile devices.”
