The state-of-the-art facility that Online Instruments set up recently at Dabaspete, some 50 km northwest of Bengaluru city marks a significant milestone in the company’s spirited journey towards a fully-indigenous AV manufacturing excellence. The ambitious initiative is sought to reinforce Online Instruments’ commitment to driving technological advancements particularly for adoption in education segment, and other training domains.
Spread over a sprawling three-acre land, the facility is equipped with semi-robotic technology to produce 400 Interactive Flat Panel Displays (IFPDs) per day. These cutting-edge displays, designed specifically for smart classrooms, offer superior image quality, touch sensitivity, and durability. The diverse product range benefits educational institutions, government organizations, R&D labs, and more.
By manufacturing IFPDs locally, Online Instruments’ objective is to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions while contributing to India’s technological self-reliance. With the inauguration of this new facility, the company is poised to revolutionize the IFPD market in India and empower educators with innovative tools for interactive learning.
“This is a momentous occasion for our company and the country,” said Shivanand Mahashetti, Co-founder & CEO of Online Instruments India Pvt Ltd. “With this facility, we are not just manufacturing products but building a strong foundation for India’s technological future, particularly in the realm of education.”
Mahesh Bellad, Co-founder & CFO stated, “the launch of this facility marks a significant milestone, allowing us to produce world-class interactive flat panel displays locally, while advancing India’s goal of technological self-reliance and empowering education.”
Noticeably, the ambitious initiative is endeavoured under the Make-in-India initiative with the intent being to develop the capability of locally manufacturing technologically advanced high-performance technology solutions, and thereby, reducing the dependence on imported finished products.
While being a prideful Make-In-India initiative, the manufacturing is not completely indigenous to begin with; a majority of the process is local, procuring material from diverse suppliers within the country, while some critical components need to be sourced from outside the country. However, the company is trying maximize the indigenous procurement and reduce the imports in the months to come.
That the venture is a CKD (completely knocked down) manufacturing, it promises to lower the costs of finished products as also generate local employment, and thereby contribute to improvising local economy.
