In yet another significant measure towards increased and effective AI adoption in governance, Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) recently unveiled in New Delhi what is reckoned as AI Playbook.
Developed by Wadhwani Centre for Government Digital Transformation – a technology transformation concern of the Wadhwani Foundation – the Playbook is a practical guide designed to accelerate the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in government projects.
The Playbook was officially launched by S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, at focused programme organized recently in New Delhi, in the presence of a galaxy of senior officers of MeitY, and Wadhwani Foundation.
The officials from the government, and executives from the Wadhwani Centre included Sunil Dahiya, EVP- Skilling, Wadhwani Foundation; Prakash Kumar, CEO, WGDT, Wadhwani Foundation; Meetul Patel, President, Wadhwani Foundation; Akash Tripathi , CEO, MyGov; Nand Kumarum, President & CEO, National e-Governance Division (NeGD); and Kavita Bhatia, Group Coordinator, (Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technology, Human Centered Computing (HCC) Division.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishnan highlighted that the Playbook aligns with India’s technological goals, and its strength lies in its practical approach. It provides a clear framework for officials to identify valuable AI opportunities, evaluate their feasibility, and transform them into effective solutions.
“The Playbook bridges the gap between technological potential and real-world governance requirements, offering public officials a guide to confidently navigate the AI landscape,” MeitY secretary vouched.
Endorsing the views, Prakash Kumar, Chief Executive Officer at Wadhwani Centre for Government Digital Transformation, underscored the Playbook’s transformative potential.
“The AI Playbook represents a significant step forward in enabling government bodies to harness the transformative potential of AI,” he said. “By providing actionable insights and a roadmap, we aim to empower project owners to execute impactful AI-driven initiatives effectively.”

It provides a structured framework, outlining key considerations and essential questions to ensure the successful implementation of AI solutions in governance. As a living document, the AI Playbook is designed to evolve with national priorities and advancements in AI technologies, ensuring its relevance and effectiveness in addressing contemporary challenges.
